As a public health professional and health policy advocate, Emma works to improve the health of women and families across Wisconsin by way of her work at the Department of Public Health (DPH) in the Maternal and Child Health Division and through her work at the WI Alliance for Women's Health (WAWH). Emma's dual roles at these organizations allows her to play a unique role in the health policy process. Currently, Emma is working with DPH and WAWH on the Wisconsin Healthiest Women Initiative that will develop a life course perspective program to improve women's health. In May of 2010, Emma completed both a Masters in Public Health (School of Medicine and Public Health) and a Masters in Public Affairs (La Follette School of Public Affairs) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Emma's public health and community work includes serving as a patient advocate at the Center for Patient Partnerships (UW-Madison), working with the Dept of Health Services and University of Wisconsin staff to evaluate the efficacy of Wisconsin's low-income family health care policy (BadgerCare Plus), and analyzing the potential health benefits from increasing beer taxes. In addition to her role as a public health professional, Emma strives to improve the health of Wisconsinites as a community yoga teacher.

Formerly an intern at the Wisconsin Alliance for Women’s Health, Sara Eskrich returned to work one quarter of the week for the Alliance in January 2010. Her focus is on meaningful implementation of the Affordable Care Act (national health care reform) for women and families in Wisconsin, which includes the Raising Women’s Voices Campaign. She works the rest of the week as a Health Care Policy Analyst for the Wisconsin Council on Children and Families (www.wccf.org). Before returning to Wisconsin, Sara was the Policy Director for the Boston City Council President. Prior to that position, her interest in health care reform took shape as she followed health reform developments around the country. She spent time working for the Unitarian Universalist Association’s Office of Youth Ministries in Boston while MA health reform was passed, and in Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin’s DC Office the summer before passage national health care reform. She has a degree in Political Science and Gender and Women’s Studies from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. While at UW Madison, she organized Spiritual Youth for Reproductive Freedom, the youth voice of the WI Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice.
