Compassionate Care for Rape Victims SB 129 & AB 377

Wisconsin Act 102

On March 13th, 2008, Governor Doyle signed Assembly Bill 377 into law.
Requires hospitals to provide information on and access to emergency contraception for victims of sexual assault. A majority of Wisconsin emergency rooms do not offer information or prescriptions for emergency contraception. Decreasing the number of unwanted pregnancies as a result of sexual assault will lessen the physical and psychological trauma already incurred by victims.
